This workshop explores how we can support others through challenging times by communicating effectively. 

Supportive communication

When people experience poor mental or emotional health, the way we communicate can: 

  • Reduce stigma and communication barriers.
  • Show that we care and want to help
  • Empower the person to seek the support they need

Session content:

  • Emotional distress: the effect on communication
  • Language barriers: what is it okay to say?
  • Non-judgemental listening skills, empathy and self-care
